Girls Varsity Basketball · Veronica Black- Head Women’s Varsity Basketball Coach

I began my college career at Olney Central Community College (NJCAA Division 1) where I was the 2nd leading scorer and rebounder. I continued my career at Armstrong Atlantic State University (NCAA Division II) in Savannah, GA. We played in the NCAA tournament in 2003-2004 season  and won our first game. My senior year, I was co-captain of the team and received the Heart and Hustle award.

After my senior year, I was offered the graduate assistant job which I accepted. I spent 2 years as the graduate assistant where I helped coach players, prepare scout film, and arrange travel. After I received my Masters  Degree, I was hired as the assistant coach. During the next two years, I was responsible for recruiting, the strength and conditioning program, post player development, and running our summer basketball camps for high school students/teams.

I then left Armstrong Atlantic to start my teaching career. I was the head coach of the 7th and 8th grade teams at Lewis Frasier Middle School in Hinesville, GA.

In 2011-2015 I coached at Russellville Junior High in Russellville, AR where our 9th graders won a Conference Championship. Along with my coaching responsibilities, I also established an off season strength and conditioning program and helped run summer camps.
